Today
was the 165th birthday of the City of Chicago, Casimir Pulaski Day in
the State of Illinois, and the day that saw the
continuation of the legend of the Beatles at
The House of Blues.
American
English has been hailed as the best Beatles copy band
around anywhere, and I would tend to agree.
I
have seen American English many times over the last several
years, from neighborhood festivals, to carnivals and other
intimate musical venues. They have worked very hard to
build quite a following of fans along with developing a knack for sounding just like the Fab
Four.
This
night they would be entertaining a select group of
preferred corporate customers of CDW (Computer Discount
Warehouse). CDW is one of the top leaders in the retail
and e-business online world of computers, parts,
peripherals, software, support and services. They can be
reached on the web at www.cdw.com.
I
am very fortunate this night that I fall into the category of one of their
favored customers, due to my loyal and dedicated
relationship with CDW since their early days in the online
business. I'd
like to thank my CDW Senior Corporate Account Manager Vipul Patel along with my good
friend and CDW Sales Manager Andy Gorski for both their
hospitality and help in making this a great evening for myself and
my two guests. The
food, drink and entertainment that CDW provided this night were in
just the right mix for a truly enjoyable experience for everyone. The
stage show begins around 7:00 PM, and really starts out fabulous
and remains true to the spirit of the Beatles. The guys are
dressed as the group we knew that first invaded the U.S., dressed
in their uniform black suits with thin black ties and their
cropped Beatle style haircuts. They sing what seems to be the
entire song repertoire of the Beatles' early years during the
first set. There
is a brief thirty or so minute break, after which the boys come
out dressed as Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The
music played now evolves with every song while the costumes and
styles change along with the metamorphosis which was typical of
the Beatles during the 60's up to the decade of the 70's. The
show concludes around 10:00 PM with American English answering to
two encore calls from a truly entertained crowd which danced and
sang along with every song. The
big curtain finally closes down upon the stage and the time bubble
present around The House of Blues bursts and everyone is again
brought forward to our present reality. We
all head home knowing from our trip tonight, what it really must
have felt like to have seen the Beatles in concert in a close,
intimate setting... The
memories made this night are as true as the original. Thank
you CDW, American English and The House of Blues for taking us all
back to those days of our youth.
