Chicago D-Day Commemoration & Re-Enactment
Monday, June 4, 1994 - Chicago, Illinois
|
To
remember the 50th Anniversary of D-Day during World War
II, the City Of Chicago sponsored a Commemoration
Service followed by a re-enactment of the invasion of
Normandy at Montrose Beach on Chicago's lakefront.
I was given a pass to this event by Mr. Sig Sakowicz, a
public relations director, who could not attend. He told
me that this would be a once in a lifetime event and
that I should get some great photos. He sure was right
about that aspect of the event.
This spectacle really opened my eyes to what our brave
fighting men faced on that fateful day on June 6, 1944.
It made me appreciate even more, the freedoms we have
thanks to these great soldiers. |
